Only one type of birth certificate is available in this state.
Regular Birth Certificate – Certified copies of birth certificates may be used for practically all legal purposes, including proof of citizenship, school enrollment, personal identification, passports, social security, and employment. Birth certificates are available for all births that took place from 1913 to the present.
Who Can Receive A Copy?
Under Alaska law, vital records are strictly confidential until they are released as public records. For birth certificates, this only happens after 100 years from the date of birth. However, the following people may obtain copies of birth certificates after providing legal documentation and paying the corresponding fees:
