Delaware Birth Certificate Types

Who Can Order?

Under Delaware law, birth certificates are confidential records for birth less than 100 years old. For births less than 100 years old, only the following individuals with valid government-issued identification and proof of relationship or other legal documents may obtain certified copies of birth certificates:

It's your birth certificate (registrant)

Parent, legal guardian, grandparent, spouse, adult child, or adult grandchild of the registrant

A legal representative of the registrant or the individuals previously mentioned (with a copy of the court order and other proof)

Genealogy (proof required)
